Because Every Day Matters

Volunteers are an essential part of Concordia-IRMC VNA’s mission of comfort, dignity and compassionate care. We believe that every day matters – and volunteers help make each day meaningful for the patients and families we serve.
Hospice and home health patients often have unique physical, emotional, spiritual and practical needs. Volunteers play a vital role in meeting those needs by offering presence, companionship and practical support during an important season of life.
Sometimes the greatest gift is simply being there.

What Do Volunteers Do?
Volunteers enhance quality of life by:
- Providing companionship and friendly visits
- Offering caregivers much-needed respite
- Sharing conversation, music, reading or storytelling
- Assisting patients in writing or telling their life stories
- Sitting quietly with someone who does not wish to be alone
- Offering prayer or spiritual support, when requested
- Visiting with therapy pets
- Running errands or assisting with light tasks
- Supporting administrative work and special events
- Helping share the Concordia-IRMC VNA mission within the community
Every skill and talent can be used in meaningful ways. Our volunteers have been artists, musicians, students, retirees, professionals and community members who simply wanted to make a difference.

What Is the Commitment?
No prior experience is required – only an open heart and a desire to serve.
We work with volunteers to identify interests, preferred roles and scheduling availability. Comprehensive training and ongoing support are provided to ensure volunteers feel prepared and confident in their service.
Whether you are able to give a few hours each month or participate in special events throughout the year, your time makes a lasting difference.
