2021 Fishing Derby Attracts Over 750 People

We had an absolutely PERFECT day for our annual Fishing Derby for Kids at Saxony Farm Lake this year! The weather was fantastic with sunshine all day and temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. Over 750 people visited the lake to reel in bass, bluegill, catfish and sunfish! Breaking records this year we had the largest catch in the history of the event – an enormous 22-in largemouth bass! Watching our amazing staff handle the unprecedented challenges of 2020 that continue into this year has been truly inspiring, so we chose to highlight just a few in our 2021 Concordia Calendar as a proclamation of gratitude for their many contributions. How Personal Care Benefits Seniors and Their Loved Ones

According to the National Institute on Aging, over half of seniors 65 and older will need some form of healthcare service in their lifetime. For individuals who need additional assistance with activities of daily living (ADL) such as bathing, eating, dressing, and mobility - personal care communities offer services and amenities to assist with these tasks as well as with instrumental activities of daily living (IADL).

Concordia’s annual Employee Appreciation Week is officially in the books, and we had a blast celebrating our amazing team members! Our employees enjoyed themed dress down days, tasty treats each day and special video messages from a few of social media’s animal stars.

This jubilant week, which is held each year to coincide with National Nursing Home Week, provides us with the opportunity to thank each and every team member in a meaningful and fun way. 140 Years of Caring: Concordia’s History of Service

Did you know that Concordia was first opened as the Evangelical Lutheran Concordia Orphans and Old Peoples Home in the early 1880s by a group of Lutheran pastors? Concordia was a farm as well as an orphanage and home for seniors, and in its early days, occupied only a small part of the current Concordia at Cabot campus. In the last several decades, Concordia has grown in leaps and bounds, now boasting a number of senior living facilities, retirement communities and home health care services in Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio and Tampa, Florida.

How Adult Day Services Supports Family Caregivers

Adult Day Centers are settings that provide care to senior adults, adults with memory impairing ailments like Alzheimer’s or dementia and adults with physical or intellectual disabilities who require assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs). An adult day service center not only provides additional help with these tasks, but also offers daily activities, nutritional programs, amenities, healthcare services and support to family caregivers.
