Ich liebe diesen Ort! (I love this place!) was the overall expression by more than 1400 guests who attended Concordia at Cabot’s annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 5.
A beautiful sun-kissed autumn day set the backdrop for an evening of celebrating Concordia’s heritage. Upon arrival in the Concordia Haven I Retirement Apartments lobby, guests were greeted with the opportunity to satiate their sweet tooth courtesy of a bake sale hosted by our friends at John Huss Evangelical Lutheran Church, ALIVE! Community Church and St. Luke Lutheran Church and School in Cabot.
Also in the lobby, guests were able to receive a flu shot from the Concordia Visiting Nurses team and purchase tickets to win a king-sized, all white quilt handstitched by Concordia Haven Retirement Apartments resident Flo Bump and the Haven Quilt Ladies group. Proceeds of the quilt fundraiser will benefit Concordia’s Good Samaritan Endowment Fund and the winner will be announced at the Concordia at Cabot Vendor Showcase sale on Nov. 22.
As attendees made their way through the Haven I dining room, polka favorites played by the Mikey Dee Polka Band filled the air. Kids of all ages hit the dance floor while deciding what delicious eats to try. Our talented in-house culinary team prepared a German-themed menu that included Bavarian style pork roast, kielbasa, sauerkraut, bratwurst, spätzle, sauerbraten and Black Forest ham pretzel melts, along with warm apple cider, hot chocolate and Samuel Adams Octoberfest.
At the Concordia Ball Field, families enjoyed pumpkin decorating, crafts, face painting, pony and hayrides, a petting zoo, bounce house fun and balloon art.
Concordia at Cabot’s 2024 Oktoberfest concluded with a spectacular fireworks show by Pyrotecnico! Special thanks to our friends who generously sponsored the display:
