The Concordia Team is comprised of many talented and compassionate employees who have graciously served our mission in a variety of ways – and we are excited for you to meet these fantastic individuals. Let us introduce you to Lanae Mortimer!

Lanae joined the Concordia family in April of 2019 as a field LPN for Concordia Visiting Nurses (CVN). In December of 2020, Lanae accepted the role of Transitional Nurse Liaison. She told us about her motivations to pursue this new opportunity to reach and educate future patients of CVN.

“As much as I love working in the field and having my one-on-one opportunities to provide care to our patients, I had the strong urge to do something different. I am an advocate for CVN and thought why not take a look into the marketing side of things?”

She continued, “I have seen the benefits of receiving home health care firsthand with my family members and also with my previous patients and residents. This is something I feel very passionate about, and I wanted to assist others understand the benefits of receiving of home health care!”

Lanae’s history with Concordia actually goes back to 2015 when she served for a short period of time as a housekeeper and nursing assistant for Concordia at the Orchard.

“I started at the Orchard because my grandmother lived there at the time, and every time I went in the staff were all pleasant, eager to help, polite and empathetic. This was something I wanted to be a part of. I knew nursing was something I was going to pursue, so to have this kind of work environment on my resume was vital [to my career].”

She told us that one of her main reasons for choosing to work for Concordia is the wide range of educational and career advancement opportunities that are offered. She is thankful that Concordia’s culture fosters talents and encourages development to all employees who are ambitious in their career growth.

“Prior to Concordia, I heard it all. You’re too young. You’re just an LPN. Do you have any experience in this department? Yes, I am young, but I am eager to learn. Yes, I am an LPN, not “just” an LPN.  Concordia saw this and took me under their wing!”

She continued, “From the volunteers to the CEO, we are ALL important at Concordia. Your abilities are not doubted when you show potential and willingness. We all have different roles to provide the best possible care to our patients and residents. Lack of experience, no problem! Concordia will provide hands-on training and walk you through new procedures until you are comfortable to be on your own.”

Outside of work, Lanae enjoys doing some really cool activities with her family.

“My boyfriend is a bullfighter, so we spend a lot of time at rodeos and bull ridings. I have two horses, and prior to having my daughter I enjoyed barrel racing. I intend to get back into this in 2021. I have an 8-month-old daughter and an 8-year-old bonus boy. We enjoy spending time together as a family. We also have a 3-year-old Australian Shepard and a 15-year-old Boxer-Doberman mix. We recently bought a fixer-upper as our first home and spend our free time remodeling.”

When we asked Lanae what motivates her to succeed, she gave us a sweet and inspiring reply.

“My daughter, Josie Mae. I am teaching her that a kind heart, fierce mind and brave spirit will enable her to do anything she puts her mind to! I want her to see that if you work hard and put your mind to something you can achieve anything. And – I also want her to see the worth of a hard-earned dollar.”
