The Concordia Team is comprised of many talented and compassionate employees who have graciously served our mission in a variety of ways – and we are excited for you to meet these fantastic individuals. Let us introduce you to Dawn Bastin!

Dawn Bastin is the Rehab Assistant for Concordia Visiting Nurses (CVN). She joined the Concordia family in April of 2001 as the Inpatient Rehab Coordinator for Concordia at Cabot. In October of 2004, Dawn accepted an Authorization Coordinator role for CVN’s therapy department. She later transitioned into her current role where she assists CVN’s Director of Rehab and their three Therapy Managers.

Dawn told us she thinks of family when asked about Concordia.

“I would describe Concordia as a family. We all support each other at work and outside of work. My father recently passed away and I was blown away by the number of co-workers who took time out of their day to come to his arrangements.”

In addition to the family-minded work environment, Dawn appreciates that Concordia is a local employer who provide competitive wages.

Dawn loves all of the employee events Concordia holds each year and they are collectively her favorite memories.

“Back in the early days of my employment, we would take charter buses down to Concordia’s Night with the Pittsburgh Pirates and those bus rides were a blast! I also love the annual Christmas party and Employee Appreciation Week.”

Dawn is busy at work AND outside of Concordia!

“I spend a large part of my time outside of Concordia with my family. I attend my daughter’s softball practices and games and, until my son’s recent high school graduation, I was at all of his football games and track and field events. I love watching and spending time with my grandson! I try to attend as many Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates games as I can. And I also serve as the Secretary and Concession Stand Commissioner for the Saxonburg Girls Softball Association.”

Dawn wasn’t kidding when she told us she tries to attend as many black and gold sporting events as you can. In addition to going to all of the Steelers home games, one of her hobbies aside from crafting and yardwork is traveling to one NFL stadium a year. Her list is incredible! So far, Dawn has traveled to see the Steelers play away games against the Baltimore Ravens, New England Patriots, Chicago Bears, Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals, Oakland Raiders, Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers!

When we asked Dawn what motivates her to succeed, she told us the following.

“I have always worked very hard and have always wanted to do well in my employment. I did not go to college to earn a degree, but I feel my work ethic and attention to detail have been paramount to my success. Prior to coming to Concordia, I was a paralegal in Pittsburgh – that job definitely helped me become the employee I am today.”
