My Concordia Career: Andrea Lang’s Story

The Concordia Team is comprised of many talented and compassionate employees who have graciously served our mission in a variety of ways – and we are excited for you to meet these fantastic individuals. Let us introduce you Andrea Lang!

Andrea is the Co-Director for the Concordia Childcare Center located on our Cabot campus. She joined the Concordia family in June of 2001 as a Server in the Cabot Snack Shop. Andrea continued to work in various food service positions during the summers and weekends while she earned her Child Development and Family Relations degree.

Upon graduation, Andrea moved into the role of Pre-School Group Supervisor and within a few short months became our Director of Childcare! We asked Andrea to describe Concordia in one word and she had the following to say.

“Family. My team of co-workers are wonderful. We work together to help each other day in and day out. We build strong relationships not only with the children, but with the parents as well – we know how hard it is for them to leave their children to go to work every day. We try to make the Childcare Center a safe, happy and healthy environment where the kids can learn and grow. The children we take care of are like family and we are thankful to be entrusted with their precious little lives.”

When we asked why she chooses to work for Concordia, Andrea said there are many reasons.

“Concordia is a wonderful, highly respected organization with a dedicated focus on its mission. I believe in our mission to serve all and to provide the highest quality of care. I have been an employee of Concordia for half of my life (18 years!), so the organization naturally feels like a home away from home. It is amazing to see how Concordia has grown in the past 18 years, and I look forward to seeing what is in store for the future!”

Andrea’s favorite Concordia memory is when the Childcare Center celebrated Dr. Seuss’ Birthday.

“Amy Rumbaugh and myself dressed up as Thing 1 and Thing 2 and of course the Cat in the Hat made an appearance. A magician came and helped us have a huge birthday celebration for the kids – everyone had so much fun!”

Andrea spends her time outside of Concordia with her husband and three boys. The kiddos love sports and no matter what it is – football, basketball, baseball, hunting or fishing – she and her husband are there cheering them on! The family also enjoys kayaking and camping.

Andrea said she is motivated to succeed by watching the progression of her Childcare kids:

“I love being able to watch the children grow from infants to toddlers to preschoolers. It’s amazing to see how much they learn and grow in just a few short years. I have had the opportunity to see many of the children I’ve taken care of mature into ambitious and successful adults – that’s the best!”
