The 2016 version of the Concordia Fishing Derby for Kids looked a lot like the 2015 event – but with EVEN MORE kids and families. Over 700 people came to Lake Saxony at Saxony Farm Estate on Saturday! Come to think of it, this event has grown every year since we started in 2014.
The weather held up its end of the bargain, staying in the mid-60s and low-70s all day, and with plenty of sunshine. Hundreds of fish were caught (and released), with our biggest being a 13¾ inch bass. We went through 800 hot dogs, and even more drinks! And did we mention it was all free?
This year’s grand prizes were brand new bikes, donated by our friends at Rath Farms and the Tuzikow Family. In addition to the awesome grand prizes, we handed out dozens of biggest and smallest catch prizes throughout the day, most of which were donated by a number of companies. Special thanks to our generous sponsors and donors:
Special thanks also goes to our dozens of volunteers, who helped make the event as smooth as possible. Below are some pictures (click photos to enlarge) – feel free to leave a comment below! We have a few more on our Facebook page, so make sure you check those out too! And if you have any of your own pictures from the event, you can post them to the Concordia Facebook Wall!
Be sure to check the Events & News page for coming events at Concordia. The next mini fishing derby will be at the Summer Festival on the Cabot Campus, July 31. More info on that to come!
