Concordia Supporters Share Why They Give for #GivingTuesday and the 2016 Season of HOPE

Bornemann

We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. Today, charities, families, businesses, community centers and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

Concordia Lutheran Ministries is excited, once again, to incorporate this revolutionary giving movement into our Season of Hope giving campaign. As a special campaign feature – we asked members of the Concordia family why they feel it is so important to give back to Concordia. Here are a few of the responses we received.

“Why do I feel it’s important to give back? Because I live here and it is my home. The administration and staff actually care and listen to our ideas with respect. I find that no matter what, we as a community are always working to improve or maintain our homes whenever possible.” – Margaret Olds, Concordia at Sumner Retirement Living Resident

“Doug and I have supported Concordia for many years because of the reputation it had for exceptional care of its residents. After personal experiences with our parents, we decided to add volunteering onto our plate. I accepted the opportunity to serve on the Board and we volunteer at the Hospice in order to “give back.” We are extremely grateful for all that everyone at Concordia has provided for Doug’s parents and my father who now reside in heaven and for my mother who is an independent living resident.” – Doug and Mary Ann Bornemann, Concordia Lutheran Ministries Board Member and Volunteers

“Each and every day I am at work I observe something special. The residents are amazing and have great stories.  The staff is incredible with the love and care they provide. I am blessed to work for such a wonderful Christian-based organization and witness the ways our residents’ lives are changed. Giving back is my way, in a small part, to thank Concordia for what they do and to help the care continue.” – Cristen Fiffik, Concordia Lutheran Ministries Employee

Now it’s your turn to tell us why YOU give back during this blessed Christmas season or at any time of the year. Your stories help remind us and others of the power of community and banding together for Concordia’s strong, Christ-centered mission. Leave a message in the comments section or head to www.CLMSeasonofHope.com to put your words into action. During this Season of Hope, you can help continue our long-standing tradition of loving, Christian-based care through a year-end gift.

And there is no better time to give than now. Through December 31, 2016, any gift you make to Concordia through our Season of Hope is eligible to be matched through an offer from a generous anonymous donor. By giving now, your gift’s impact can go twice as far to help sustain and expand Concordia’s care.
