Concordia’s Good Samaritan Hospice Announces Leadership Changes
Jefferson Twp., PA – Roni Lucas has been named Executive Director and Wendy Moore was appointed Director of Operations for Good Samaritan Hospice (GSH), a mission of Concordia Lutheran Ministries (CLM), according to CLM President and CEO Keith E. Frndak and Concordia Community Support Services CEO Martin Trettel.
In 1998, Lucas came to Concordia as Program Director for residents of the Lund Care Center on the Concordia at Cabot campus, having graduated from Penn State University with a B.A. degree in marketing. In 2007, she accepted a position as Marketing Coordinator for Concordia Visiting Nurses and transitioned into that role at GSH three years later.
After earning her R.N. from Jameson School of Nursing in New Castle, she became the Nurse Liaison for GSH until April of 2017, when she was appointed Interim Executive Director of Concordia Hospice of Washington. Since December of 2017 she has served GSH as Director of Customer Experience.
Lucas will provide guidance to the leadership team and work collaboratively with other Concordia entities and external partners to ensure the delivery of exceptional end-of-life care.
“The staff makes all the difference,” Lucas said. “The things they do for patients and families are amazing – team members taking a patient out for tea on their own time, a nurse driving a family member to the hospice unit to visit her aunt on her day off, a nurse aide bringing lunch outside for a patient picnic – this is hospice care at its finest.”
She and her husband Ken live in Butler and have a 22-year-old daughter.
Moore, a graduate of Slippery Rock University with a B.S. in Health Science and an AAS in Nursing from Butler County Community College, arrived at Concordia in 2011 as Director of Nursing (DON) for Concordia at Cabot. Last year, she accepted a new position as Corporate Director of Nursing.
“This position will allow me to continue to educate, support, coach and mentor our team,” Moore said. “I have never worked for a company that cares more about the employees.”
She and her husband Dana live in Kellersburg, have two sons, Landen, age 12, and Connor, age 8, and a dog named Luke.
