Concordia Lutheran Ministries Elects Six Board Members

Jefferson Twp., PA – Keith E. Frndak, President and CEO, Concordia Lutheran Ministries announced the election of six board members yesterday at the annual delegate meeting. Eighteen board members comprise the governing body and represent 31 Lutheran Churches Missouri Synod (LCMS) in the western Pennsylvania area.

Installed by Rev. Jack Hartman, director of chaplaincy services, the newly elected members follow. Each will serve a three-year term.

Peter Bodnar of Allison Park
A graduate of the College of William and Mary with a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature, Peter has been Director of Communications for Shadyside Presbyterian Church for the past 15 years. Prior to that he was a coordinator at Yearick-Millea, a Pittsburgh-based PR, marketing and ad agency. A member of Redeemer in Oakmont, he has served multiple terms on the Board of Deacons. He is the grandson of the late Rev. Lorenz Blankenbuehler, Concordia chaplain.

Rev. Dr. Daniel Hahn Jr. of Verona
Pastor at St John’s in Millvale since 2014, Dr. Hahn was Mission Director of the Pittsburgh Area Lutheran Ministries (PALM) for three years and currently serves as Pastoral Counselor for LWML Pittsburgh Zone, a Director at Redeemer Lutheran School and Regional Vice President, Pittsburgh, Eastern District for LCMS. A graduate of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis with a masters in Divinity and a doctorate in Ministry, he came to Pittsburgh from Sebewaing, MI where he was Senior Pastor. He is married to Mary, five children and three grandchildren.

Paul Hoffman of Allison Park
A Cytotechnologist for Quest Diagnostics, Inc since 1988, Paul earned his B.S. in Biology from Slippery Rock University and an MHA from St. Joseph’s College in Maine. A member of Bethel, Glenshaw, he has served on its Board of Directors and is currently serving there as an elder and financial secretary.  He is married to Kristen and has one son.

Stephen Johnson of Oakland
Stephen W. Johnson, who served as chairman of the Concordia Board of Directors during 12 of his 15-year tenure, is Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Office of CONSOL Energy, Inc., the largest producer of high-BTU bituminous coal in the United States. He joined CNX Gas in 2005 where he was Executive Vice President and General Counsel. Formerly, he was a partner in the Business and Regulatory Group at Reed Smith LLP, one of the 20 largest law firms in the world. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Virginia and a juris doctorate degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He and his wife Tracey have two sons, Sam and Adam. Steve is a member of Zion in Bridgeville.

Jennifer Lewis, MD of Canonsburg
Board certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Lewis is on the medical staff at Allegheny General and Canonsburg Hospitals, has a private practice in Internal Medicine in McMurray and has served as the Medical Director at TownView Health and Rehabilitation Center in Canonsburg since 2010. A member of the American College of o Physician she has received the Patients’ Choice Award, Compassionate Doctor Recognition and On-time Doctor Award. Dr Lewis has served three years on the Concordia Board. She and her husband Robert Liberatore have three children. She is a lifelong member of Zion in Bridgeville.  

James Limbaugh of Cabot
James Limbaugh is an attorney with the law firm of Auld Miller LLC having retired from Miller Limbaugh & Conley in Allison Park. A graduate of Parsons College in Fairfield, IA with a bachelor’s degree in history, Jim earned his juris doctorate degree at Ohio Northern University School of Law. He has served on the Concordia Board for 26 years, holding offices as chairman five times nad Vice Chairman eight times. He is married to Karen and has four children and one grandchild. Jim is a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot.  

Presented with a thank-you plaque for their service was David Alsing for 27 years (Calvary, Murrysville); Mike Fiffik for 12 years (Ascension, McCandless Twp.); Peter Fisher for 7 years (Zion, Bridgeville); and Russell Lucas for 6 years (Ascension, McCandless Twp.).

Twenty-one churches were represented and a total of 50 delegates as well as management staff and guests were in attendance. Keith E. Frndak, President and CEO is both impressed and delighted with the caliber of the candidates and looks forward to robust expansion and strong support of our mission of faithful caring.
