More than 1,200 guests joined us at Concordia at Cabot on Saturday, Oct. 3, for our annual Oktoberfest celebration – and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day!
Sunshine, comfortable temperatures and falling leaves provided a picture-perfect early autumn backdrop as residents, families, friends, team members and neighbors gathered across the Cabot campus for one of Concordia’s favorite traditions.
Guests enjoyed a German-inspired menu prepared by Concordia’s culinary team, featuring Oktoberfest favorites including roasted pork, kielbasa and sauerkraut, bratwurst, sauerbraten, German potato salad, red cabbage, spaetzle and potato pancakes. Bavarian pretzels and other quick bites were also available outside, along with Samuel Adams Octoberfest and, new this year, 1919 Root Beer.
Inside Haven I, the Mikey Dee Polka Band provided live entertainment throughout the evening, while guests could also browse diamond art and a selection of homemade baked goods prepared by volunteers from Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Christ Lutheran Church and Alive Community Church.
Outside, families made the most of the beautiful weather with hayrides and plenty to explore at Kids Fest on the Concordia ball field. Children enjoyed a bouncy castle, pumpkin decorating, a petting zoo, balloon art and face stenciling. Hope’s Road, Good Samaritan Hospice’s youth bereavement program, also joined the Kids Fest fun this year with a hands-on activity where children created their own Bavarian pretzels using clay molding and rice.
Guests also had the opportunity to tour Concordia Haven Retirement Apartments and learn more about retirement living at Concordia at Cabot.
As the sun went down, guests gathered for one of the most anticipated traditions of the evening – a spectacular fireworks display by Pyrotecnico Fireworks.
We extend our sincere thanks to Gordon Food Service, McCutcheon Enterprises, Inc. and Monteverde’s for generously sponsoring this year’s fireworks display.
Oktoberfest is a Concordia tradition, but it is the people behind it who make the celebration possible. We are incredibly grateful to the many volunteers and team members who gave their time before, during and after the event – preparing and serving food, greeting guests, assisting with activities, helping behind the scenes and taking care of the countless details involved in welcoming our community to campus. Their efforts truly helped make the day one to remember.
And, of course, thank you to our community for joining us once again! Whether you have celebrated Oktoberfest with Concordia for years or joined us for the first time, we are grateful you chose to spend such a beautiful fall evening with us. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did, and we look forward to welcoming you back next year! Mark your calendars for Saturday, Oct. 2, 2027 – always the first Saturday in October!
