Good Samaritan Hospice and Heritage Valley Health System are hosting a screening and discussion of the documentary “Being Mortal” on April 20 at 6 p.m. in Classroom A at Heritage Valley Beaver Hospital. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
This PBS FRONTLINE film is based on the bestselling book by Atul Gawande, MD. The documentary explores the hopes of patients and families facing terminal illness and their relationships with the physicians who treat them. See the film and be part of a national conversation that brings medical professionals and community members together.
The discussion portion of the evening will be led by Kathy Selvaggi, MD, Director of the Palliative Care Division at Butler Health System. Dr. Selvaggi was an assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School; Director of the Intensive Palliative Care Unit; and Clinical Director of Adult Palliative Care Services at Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center.
