Autumn Events Abound at Concordia This October

Fall is here, but before you even start to think of making Thanksgiving dinner or buying Christmas presents, don’t forget to enjoy the beauty of the season! Concordia has a few events in the coming months that will get you outside in the crisp fall air, enjoying God’s creation as the leaves change and breezes pick up. We’d love to see you at one (or all!) of these events, all of which are sure to be tons of fun!

Annual Concordia Oktoberfest
Our first great autumn event is Concordia’s annual Oktoberfest, which will be held on Saturday, October 3 from 4-8 p.m. behind Haven I, located at 112 Marwood Rd., Cabot, PA 16023 (click here for directions). Admission is free, and you don’t want to miss anything this event has to offer. There will be homemade German food, free food for kids 12 and under, a live German/polka band, tons of free activities for kids, hayrides, a stunning Zambelli Fireworks display and much, much more. There will also be a bake sale, flea market (until 6 p.m.), open house, blood pressure screening and flu shots (if available). Oktoberfest allows you to enjoy the outdoors, eat delicious food and enjoy time with family and friends.

Good Samaritan Hospice 14th Annual Memorial 5K Run, Walk, Relay and 1K Walk
A week after Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 10, Good Samaritan Hospice will host its 14th Annual Memorial 5K Run, Walk, Relay and 1K Walk at the North Park Swimming Pool Area. All of the proceeds from this event benefit Good Samaritan Hospice, a Concordia facility that is dedicated to giving compassionate care to those facing life-limiting illnesses. Race day registration starts at 7:30 a.m. and the race officially begins at 9 a.m. There will be an opening prayer service, post race party, participant placement awards and door prizes. This event is a fun opportunity to support a good cause while getting active!

Concordia at Sumner Oktoberfest
This is only the second year that Sumner has held an Oktoberfest, but we already have the essentials down pat: a great German food buffet, live German band, prizes, beer and more! The open celebration will be held on Friday, October 16 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the Manor House (970 Sumner Pkwy, Akron, OH 44321 – click here for directions). Guests will also have the opportunity to tour the buildings and learn about the retirement community. Walk-ins are accepted, but we would love it if you would register!
