A Reel Good Time at the 2026 Concordia Fishing Derby

With fishing poles lined along the lake and nearly 1,000 guests gathered at Saxony Farm, Concordia’s 2026 Fishing Derby for Kids once again brought families together for a fun-filled day of outdoor fellowship and community spirit. Comfortable temperatures and dry skies made for ideal derby weather, with the rain holding off until the evening so young anglers could spend the morning and afternoon casting lines, landing catches and making memories by the water.

Families enjoyed a complimentary lunch throughout the day, with volunteers distributing more than 1,500 hot dogs and 14 cases of chips to hungry guests between fishing sessions. Every half hour brought cheers from the crowd as prizes were awarded for the biggest and smallest catches, with fish ranging from just 2 inches to an impressive 18.5 inches. Five lucky kids also hooked grand prizes including bicycles, cornhole boards and scooters.

We’re incredibly thankful to Sprankle’s Neighborhood Markets for their continued support of the Fishing Derby through snack donations, social media promotion ahead of the event and hands-on volunteer help throughout the day. Their generosity and community spirit helped make this year’s derby a fin-tastic one for our guests.

We also want to give a huge THANK YOU to all our volunteers, including the many Concordia employees, residents and family members and Saxonburg Fire Police who made a beautiful day even better for our guests! And of course, thank you to our generous donors as well:
