“But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:10-12
On Sunday, Dec. 8, our Concordia at Cabot campus welcomed community members, friends and families for the 11th annual Concordia Live Nativity. The mild winter weather provided an ideal setting for our guests to celebrate and reflect on the birth of our Savior.
Homemade luminaries, crafted and arranged by the St. Luke Lutheran Church Youth Group, Rev. Jared Townley, Concordia Visiting Nurses staff volunteers and Jason and Tammy Young, lit the way for guests as they journeyed to witness baby Jesus’s humble beginning. We are deeply grateful for our volunteers’ time and dedication in creating this stunning and meaningful display.
Three outdoor performances brought the story of Jesus’s birth to life. Between shows, guests enjoyed an array of festive treats, including Christmas cookies, hot chocolate, a coloring activity and gift for children and wonderful musical entertainment. Special thanks to the St. Luke Lutheran School 3rd and 4th graders, Redeemer Lutheran School and the Pittsburgh Lutheran Chorus for sharing their talents by leading our guests in Christmas carols.
This year, our guests helped Concordia to support the food pantry needs of The Lighthouse Foundation by donating canned goods and other foods. Many thanks to all who contributed so generously to help brighten the season for those in need.
The success of this event was made possible by the extraordinary efforts of Concordia residents, staff and families. From narrating, singing and acting to decorating, greeting guests and ensuring everything ran smoothly, their contributions were invaluable. We also extend our gratitude to the Saxonburg Fire Police for managing traffic, Bud Sears and Gloria Walker for their special efforts and to everyone who made this celebration so special.
