2019 Concordia Summer Event Calendar Bursting at the Seams

The official start of the Concordia summer event season started with a bang a couple weeks ago at our annual Fishing Derby for Kids, and the calendar looks as packed as ever this year!

Between all of our open houses, summer concerts, support groups and more, we couldn’t possibly highlight every one of the many events we have coming up, so we picked some to showcase. Haven Patio Concert Series
When: June 9, July 30 and August 27
Where: Concordia at Cabot Haven 2 Patio
Details: The acts performing for the Haven Patio Concert Series this year are the Pittsburgh Mandolin Orchestra (June 9), the Mary Gibbons Band (July 30) and the East Wings Symphonic Band (August 27). The concerts are free and open to the community. Guests will also have the opportunity to tour the building and model apartments and learn about what to look for in a retirement community. Concordia of the South Hills Summer Flea Market
When: June 13 and 14 from 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Where: Concordia of the South Hills Harmony Room
Details: Open to the community, this flea market will benefit the Concordia of the South Hills Caring Fund (for charitable care). For more information, contact Director of Community Life Ina Silver at 412-294-1306.

Concordia at Sumner Retirement Living Expansion Grand Opening/Community Day
When: June 29 from 1 – 5 p.m.
Where: Concordia at Sumner (Copley, OH)
Details: The public is invited to join us for a day of celebrating the grand opening of our expansion at our first-ever Community Day. The family-oriented event will be held in collaboration with the Copley Township Bicentennial Celebration. Community Day will include a variety of musical acts/entertainment, food trucks, carnival games, a bounce house, fairy tale princesses and more. 16th Annual Golf Classic
When: July 8 at 8:30 a.m.
Where: Treesdale Golf & Country Club
Details: Shotgun start at 10 a.m., reception at 3 p.m. and banquet/program at 4 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to three foursomes for the lowest gross score. Cost per participant is $225 for golf, cart, gifts, continental breakfast, grilled lunch, happy hour and dinner/reception. Sponsorships and golf spots still available! Proceeds benefit our Good Samaritan Endowment Fund for charitable care. For more information, call Larissa Yates at 724-352-1571, ext. 8363.

Concordia Summer Festival
When: July 28 from 12:30 – 5:30 p.m.
Where: Concordia at Cabot backyard
Details: The festival includes free activities and food for kids, musical entertainment, delicious, picnic-themed food, an open house of our facilities and a traditional worship service. Our featured entertainment is the 19-piece Pittsburgh DooWop Big Band. The special guest preacher this year is Rev. Dr. Daniel Hohn Jr., Concordia Board Member, Regional Vice President of the Eastern District, Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and current pastor of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and Pre-School in Millvale. Good Samaritan Hospice Butterfly Release
When: August 24 at 2 p.m.
Where: Concordia at Villa St. Joseph campus (Baden, PA)
Details: This event is free and open to the public, even if you did not have a loved one in Good Samaritan Hospice care. For anyone who wants to honor and celebrate the memory of their loved ones, you can reserve a live butterfly in advance for $10 each. There will also be a limited number of butterflies available to purchase on-site the day of the event. All proceeds will benefit Good Samaritan Hospice.
