The 2017 Concordia Fishing Derby for Kids was another HUGE success, as more than 700 people visited Lake Saxony, despite the chilly temperatures and threat of rain! We gave away three grand prizes this year – two bikes and a kayak – and caught the biggest fish in the event’s four-year history: a 19-inch largemouth bass! Also new this year were sunglasses that were given to each kid. (Read more for photos)
Here are some fun facts for you: We went through 900 hot dogs, 800 bags of chips, 600 drinks, 400 pieces of fruit and 220 lbs of ice, and in the bait department, we used over 1,000 red worms, 800 nightcrawlers and 250 waxworms (thanks to our friends at Gearhart’s Country Market)! Special thanks to our prize sponsors for the event:
And a HUGE THANK YOU to all the volunteers, including the many Concordia employees/families, WoodmenLife, Trail Life Troop #PA1418, Saxonburg Fire Police and all the others who made the day a huge success! If you missed it, below are some pictures (click photos to enlarge). Feel free to leave a comment below or over on our Facebook Page.
