Concordia Cares: What’s Happening at our Communities and Ways to Get Connected

Despite recent challenges brought by COVID-19 during the past several weeks, we’re incredibly blessed to have an amazing group of dedicated team members who have been working diligently to find new ways to serve our residents and their families each day. And while some of the day-to-day activities might look a bit different, what hasn’t changed is our commitment to ensuring our residents are connected to their friends and loved ones.

If your loved one happens to be a resident at one of our communities, or you’re simply looking for a way to help bring some positivity to our residents, below are some programs and initiatives to support our Concordia family during this time. Check out all of the ways to get involved through our Concordia Cares Program at our community locations below.

Video Conferencing

If your loved one is a resident or patient at one of our facilities and you’re looking for ways to stay in touch, we currently have a teleconferencing program in place to make sure you stay connected. To set up a teleconference call, reach out to the activities staff members at your loved one’s facility. They can help you connect through Skype, FaceTime and different teleconferencing apps. Want to know more about setting up a skype call? Take a look at this infographic for step-by-step instructions.

Send a Smile

One of the best ways to brighten someone’s day is with a smile. If you would like to send uplifting materials to our residents (this can be photos, videos, letters, e-cards, etc.) email us at: sendasmile@concordialm.org. Messages can be anything from a “thinking of you” note to sharing educational or entertaining videos our residents would enjoy. A great way to start videos is to open with something like, “Hello Concordia Residents!” followed by a special, happy message for them. We’re sharing these content submissions with our residents regularly.

Tele-CareGivers

The Concordia Tele-CareGivers program is a great way to help seniors living in the community. Concordia Tele-Caregivers’ volunteers make brief phone calls daily to check in with seniors or individuals with disabilities in the community who live alone without a close network of support. A friendly call once a day to check in can help ensure mom or dad or a senior family member or friend is connected. We have plenty of volunteers currently, but we’re looking for more individuals who might benefit from receiving calls. If you or someone you know might benefit from the program, call: 724-352-6260.

Daily Devotionals, Puzzles and Trivia

With most churches being temporarily closed, and many of our residents feeling a spiritual void, we’re offering daily devotionals from our chaplaincy staff. For uplifting daily devotions, visit the Mission and Ministry page of our website. We are also posting puzzles and Concordia trivia on our Facebook page regularly!

To learn more about our senior care and health services at our locations in Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio and Tampa, Florida visit the care levels and services page of our website or call us at 724-352-1571.
